Julio Ortiz, CEO:
Julio Ortiz is a notable figure in Uruguay’s meat processing industry, serving as the general manager for both RONDATEL and LIRTIX S.A. Which are the most popular meat processing plant located in Montevideo, Uruguay. In early 2021, under Ortiz’s leadership, Frigorífico Rosario, a meat processing facility associated with RONDATEL and Lirtix, reopened after a year of inactivity. The reopening was a significant accomplishment for Ortiz and his team. The first slaughters at the reopened facility were dedicated solely to supplying China, which is facilitated by the fact that their group of shareholders owns a food distribution company in China.
The reopening also meant the return of jobs for many workers. Ortiz mentioned that the Frigorífico Rosario and Lirtix S.A., had more than 400 families in their workforce. After the reopening, they started with over 160 workers on-site and had plans to gradually re-introduce all their employees back to work. The products manufactured at Frigorífico Rosario for China were initially frozen carcasses, with plans to incorporate other animal categories and make frozen and vacuum-packed products starting in February 2021. Ortiz’s management is marked by the good and strong relationship with the farmers who they work with. This was evidenced by the fact that they faced no legal litigation following a stoppage of payments in the previous year. The broader plans for 2021 included increasing the frequency of slaughters and working with a bank for operating capital and investments.

Victor Alves Goncalves, Sales Manager:

With over 20 years of experience in the meat processing industry, Gaston has played a critical role in guiding the company’s growth and success. He oversees the company’s strategic direction and focuses on building long-term relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Under his tenure, Frigorifico Lirtix S.A has expanded its operations to serve customers in more than 15 countries, including China and Russia.
Prior to joining Frigorifico Lirtix S.A, Gaston held senior management positions at several leading meat processing companies. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Universidad ORT Uruguay and his master’s degree in business administration from the Universidad de Montevideo.
